LBB's newest program, Field Trip Fridays starts this Friday, November 15th! Lunch with the Doctor: All About Diabetes Learn more about prevention, detection, and current treatments. The program will be Presented by Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare and Antoni Kafrouni, MD, Endocrinology, Obesity and Diabetes practice. Lunch served. Space is limited and RSVP is required. LBB's Youth Group celebrated Halloween yesterday along with a couple of our dedicated employees! Wishing you a safe and Happy Halloween!

Thank you North Florida Worlds of Work along with partners, sponsors, attendees, and volunteers for another great Career Expo! Last week LBB’s Transition Group (ages 14 -22) attended the Expo which was a perfect opportunity to explore, talk with professionals, and learn about more than 100 businesses and industries in the Tallahassee area. Students met with representatives from construction to finance to healthcare and hospitality to automotive and personal care services. Our group gravitated to Leon County EMS, TallyRobotics, and Florida Forest Services to name a few. According to the WOW website, “The purpose of WOW is to create awareness of the many high demand, high wage job opportunities that exist in North Florida early enough in high school that students may plan their pathway and graduate with a plan in place and well on their way to college or career.” #seeingindependence #guidingpeoplethroughvisionloss #worldofwork

Thursday’s Health & Wellness Series will be on nutrition presented by Sammie Zambrano, Health Promotions Specialist, with Big Bend AHEC (Area Health Education Center). He will teach the group how to make nutritious meals and snacks on a budget. The Big Bend AHEC agency provides health education and promotes partnerships to improve community health. LBB's new Braille Activity Group is the perfect opportunity for our LBB clients who are curious about or have been wanting to learn braille! Our new Braille Activity Group will begin next Tuesday, October 22 at LBB with Janet Acheson, Ed.S. TVI. Braille is a system of raised dots that can be read with fingers by people who are blind or who have low vision.
